Corn - The Root Of All Evil?

I recently listened to an interesting conversation related to corn. It was more a debate on corns’ status as a vegetable, lack of nutritional value, and link to health problems (specifically diabetes and obesity). It was proposed that corn should be banned from production. The debate went on to suggest a comparison between corn and tobacco production and their similar impact on our society. Now, I am hoping some of this was argument just for arguments sake. What did this little yellow kernel ever do? I am stepping up in its’ defense.

Learn all you can about the food groups as this will be your base for dietary changes down the road. Learn WHY your body needs each food group to function at its best this will make it easier to convince yourself to eat the daily requirement for each food group.
Become best friends with a notepad and pen. Writing down what you eat will make you become aware of your food choices, portions and make it easier to change your diet.

The Food Guide Pyramid, which was developed by the US Department of Agriculture, is a new way of looking at which foods, and in what quantities, we should be eating each day.
