The Wedding Photographer - How To Select The Best From The Rest
Posted on June 13, 2008 - Filed Under Legal and Law
They say after the wedding all you have are the photos. This statement is true in every respect. The pictures capture the magic of the event, its people and all the essential moments. You will therefore not entrust your wedding pictures to an amateur who will leave you nothing but a bunch of poor images. So the question arises - who is the best photographer for me? How should I choose?
Criteria number 1. Check his samples. Take a look at the events he has covered over the years and judge for yourself if they are perfect. Examine the angle from which he takes his shots, the poses and the images he captures. Do they reflect professionalism? Are all the essential moments recorded on film? Next, look at the pricing? Move on to presentation. Are the pictures sharp? Do you see any extra effects that will bring the events to life? Critically look at the sequence of the images. Were they taken as individual images or they tell a story. Now, wedding pictures trends are following the photojournalism model whereby the pictures tell a story. Are the professional images telling a story?
Criteria number 2. References. Who are his previous clients? Were they satisfied with him? Would they want to do business with him again? What habits or personality flaws did he have?
Criteria number 3. As you talk to him, what do you make of his personality? Is he pleasing to work with? Does he take your suggestions? Does he understand the theme of your wedding and the need for him to take magnificent pictures?
Criteria number 4. Rates. How much is he charging? Is this fee exorbitant, within range or too low? Low fees may herald poor service. If the price is too high, what is making it so? Perhaps he has some options you can leave out of your contract to get a lower charge.
Now go get your wedding photographer and enjoy your day.
