3 Tips When Applying For Work At Home Jobs
Posted on May 16, 2008 - Filed Under Home Based Business
We all dream of working from home. In reality, that dream is closer than you think. Just get on the internet and browse around in your favorite search engine and soon enough, you’ll find some actual work at home jobs. Yes - real work at home positions with real companies do exist! The problem is, however, that these positions are generally limited in availability. Since these positions have limited openings, you need to make sure that you look better than the next person applying for the same position you are. Here are 3 tips on making you and your resume shine:
1) A Polished And Well Drawn Up Resume
Obviously, this is a must. You’re nothing without you’re track record, right? Depending on the position your seeking, I would suggest hiring a person to look over your resume and help you build it, focusing on your strong points and leaving no room for weaknesses. Since you’ll most likely do interviews via e-mail and over the phone, your resume is the first impression an employer gets from you. A sloppy resume will most likely lead to not hearing from them again.
2) A Solid List of Professional References
Anyone can put words on a resume to make themselves sound better and appear like a graduate from Harvard, when in reality they have never attended college. References will help solidify your resume, as well as back up your information that is on your resume. Make sure these are people that you’ve worked with professionally, not your grandma or your sister.
3) Make A Personal Contact And Build A Relationship
Networking is what the game is all about. Before you apply at the company your interested in, find a contact person there and send them an e-mail or give them a call. Ask them about the company, about the type of work, etc. Your goal is to try to build a relationship with them. When they are browsing through resumes and your’s comes up, they’ll know exactly who you are, instead of bypassing your resume altogether.
Enjoy these tips. Make sure you use them each and every time when applying for work online. Remember: There is always someone right behind you ready to take your spot. Make sure you’re on top of your game every time!
