Building A List - How Do I Build A List?

If you have ever been involved or thinking about getting involved with internet marketing, one of the first phrases you will hear is, “Building your list”. It is often overlooked because to be honest there is a lot of work involved if you are doing it alone. If you have some guidelines then it can become very easy.
Most people leave out the detailed explanation of building a list because it is probably better for the big guys if a new internet marketeer glances over the importance of a list, leaving more customers for the Gurus of internet marketing.
If you have a list of 10,000 people, I reckon you will be able to make about a thousand dollars over each month when you email your list. This is from my own experience.
That means that each person on your list is worth 10 cents a month. Some people reckon they get a better rate of return and some reckon less, it all depends on how many times you email your list and how good your skills are at selling them a product.
So you may be asking yourself, how do I possibly get 10,000 sign ups to my site.
Marketing….Many people would like to go down the route of Paid Marketing. Dont!! Have a think first, you will probably end up paying a dollar per click to your site and not everyone will sign up, this means if will probably cost you about 15,000 to 30,000 dollars to build a list of 10,000. Instead think of free ways to get your site visitors.
1) Write articles, this improves your websites position in search engines because you put your link to your site in the author box and it will get visitors clicking through your link.
2) Try some traffic exchanges, there is a bit of clicking involved but I reckon for half an hours clicking , you can get ten sign ups easily, if you build a good page.
3) Optimise your website for search engines, make sure it is search engine friendly, and make sure you submit it to lots and lots of directories.
4) Place ads for your ebook (or whatever you are selling) onto Craigslist and Gumtree, this also gives you links back to your site.
5) Forum marketing is another good technique which is slightly more time consuming, but forums are so successful for one reason, they have a lot of traffic every day.
Building that list….
I have a free service that gives me the sign up box to collect my email address and also has a great emailing tool so I can email my list whenever I like, go to Auto-Responder. I then offer all my visitors something free so they sign up, try and offer them the best thing you can, because after all they are your potential customers in the future so treat them properly. I currently offer a really good making money guide, which will have my visitors making money, this means that they are happy and know they will know that I am trustworthy.
